Chain Drinker

When I was young I was flying so high

My future was as bright as a Fourth of July

Now I'm feeling just like a dud

All four wheels spinning going nowhere in the mud

Don't know how I got caught in this rut

I might be able to get out but not with this beer gut

Because I'm a chain drinker

Problem smoker

and I can ‘t seem to get my shit together

I'm loose walker

a tight rope talker

and it all comes out wrong so whatever

I'm just looking for a clue

but I can't get there without you.

She left me feeling just like a jerk

She said “I don't know what this is but it don't work”

So I went to the bar and I got in a fight

Them boys didn't care that I was right

So I busted a rib and I lost a tooth

but it always hurts when you speak the truth

Because I'm a chain drinker….

The dishes pile up in the sink

The whole damn mess just makes me think

about how I bust my ass every day

just so the lawyers and the landlord can take my pay

Sometimes I feel like I am going down

but I always get back up for another round.

Because I'm a chain drinker…

I have been kicking around the chorus of this one for awhile and it is about time I did something with it. The song says country all the way... but not like the country you hear today... more like the country you heard thirty years ago. I have always been a bit out of time. So it goes.....

GUITARS AND VOICE : WHIPPLE
BANJO : FILTHY McWHISKEY
DOBRO : JEREMIAH MAXEY
BASS : JOEL ZEIGLER
VOCALS : JAMES PERRY
DRUMS : JASON GIRON
